Role Purpose

The Senior Digital Commerce Merchandising Designer will interpret and implement creative vision across digital platforms with a strong focus on conversion-driven design for e-commerce. This role combines high-output merchandising design with broader digital design responsibilities, including website assets, social media graphics, and UI enhancements. The designer will work closely with merchandising and marketing teams to deliver effective, aesthetic, and commercially impactful designs that enhance user experience and drive engagement.

Additionally, this role works across teams supporting both General Merchandise and Foods areas, ensuring design solutions align with category-specific strategies and objectives.


Role Description

Digital Merchandising & Creative Execution

  • Design and deliver high-volume in-app creatives (e.g., banners, category visuals) aligned to trading priorities.
  • Enhance product display pages (PDPs) and category pages with strong visual hierarchy and lifestyle imagery.
  • Maintain consistency across all digital touchpoints, ensuring clarity and conversion focus.

Broader Digital Design Scope

  • Produce design and production for websites, product graphics, social media banners, and static/rich ads.
  • Develop mock-ups, wireframes, and prototypes for web and mobile platforms.
  • Create and maintain design systems and component libraries for digital assets.
  • Demonstrate good project management capability and effectively prioritise multiple deadlines.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with merchandisers, agencies, marketing managers, and developers to align creative outputs with business objectives.
  • Translate marketing requirements and user research into compelling designs.
  • Participate in iterative design processes, including usability testing and heuristic evaluations.
  • Deliver excellent presentation and communication skills to engage and influence stakeholders.

Performance & Optimisation

  • Review engagement metrics (e.g., click-through rates) and iterate designs based on data insights.
  • Benchmark design work against best practices and continuously improve templates for speed and consistency.

Trends & Technologies

  • Leverage AI-driven design tools, automation, and personalization trends to enhance creative outputs.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging UX/UI patterns and best practices for responsive design.

Compliance & Brand Governance

  • Adhere to and evolve brand CI guidelines across all digital assets to maintain consistency.
  • Ensure adherence with copyright and data privacy standards


Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Digital Design, Graphic Design, or related field (essential).
  • 4
    -5 years' experience in digital design, preferably in e-commerce or performance-driven environments.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing conversion-focused design and digital assets.
  • Strong project management capability.
  • Solid understanding of branding, UX principles, and web design processes.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CMS platforms (advantageous).
