An established and growing organisation within the logistics, freight forwarding and supply chain sector is seeking a highly driven and operationally focused Financial Manager to join its Cape Town-based team.
This is a senior, hands-on finance leadership role within a fast-paced, high-volume business. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the financial performance, reporting, forecasting, cashflow management and financial control environment of the organisation.
Working closely with the CFO and operational leadership team, you will translate financial information into meaningful commercial insight, support strategic decision-making and help improve profitability, efficiency and performance across the business.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management and Reporting
Lead monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting across multiple operational streams.
Analyse revenue, margins, costs, volumes and business trends to identify key performance drivers.
Present financial results and commercial insights to senior management.
Ensure accurate revenue recognition, expenditure control and vendor reconciliations.
Cashflow and Financial ControlManage cashflow forecasting, creditor cycles, client collections and working capital.
Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure outstanding items are resolved.
Strengthen financial controls, policies and procedures across finance and operations.
Manage foreign exchange exposure and support appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
Compliance and AuditManage internal and external audit processes.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, accounting standards and governance frameworks.
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Systems and Process ImprovementMaintain and optimise financial master data within the ERP environment.
Drive process improvement, automation and more efficient financial reporting.
Improve the quality and accessibility of financial and operational information.
Leadership and Business PartneringLead, mentor and develop the finance team.
Partner with operational leaders to improve profitability, efficiency and performance.
Provide financial guidance and operational insight to support strategic decision-making.
Build strong relationships across the business and promote accountability and collaboration.
Requirements Qualification- Qualified Chartered Accountant, CA(SA) . This is a mandatory requirement.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a Financial Manager, Senior Financial Manager or similar financial leadership role.
- Proven experience leading, managing and developing a finance team.
- Experience working in a high-volume, operational or transaction-intensive business environment.
- Experience working with an ERP system such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP, Oracle, Sage, Net Suite or a similar platform.
- Advanced financial reporting and data analysis capability.
Experience with in logistics, freight forwarding, shipping, transport, supply chain, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing or another operational industry will be highly advantageous.
