Financial Adviser / Financial Planner

Location:

Cape Town, Western Cape

Employment type:

Commission-Based

Position level:
Intermediate

Reference: ACG-FA-014

Date posted: 26 August 2026

Role overview

ACG Growth Partners is recruiting a Financial Adviser / Financial Planner on behalf of an established professional financial planning practice in Cape Town.

This opportunity is aimed specifically at an adviser with two to four years of practical industry experience who has already demonstrated the ability to generate sustainable business, and who is currently producing more than R250,000 per annum.
It is not a trainee or entry-level adviser role.

The successful adviser will operate in a commission-based, performance-led environment: developing and managing client relationships, generating new business, and delivering appropriate financial-planning solutions within the applicable regulatory and compliance framework.

Remuneration:
This is a commission-based adviser opportunity. Earnings are performance-linked and depend on business written and the applicable remuneration structure. No fixed salary or guaranteed cost to company is advertised for this role. Detailed remuneration terms are discussed with suitable shortlisted candidates.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and grow a sustainable portfolio of financial-planning clients.
  • Prospect for and secure new client relationships through networking, referrals, professional relationships and direct business-development activity.
  • Conduct structured client fact-finding, needs analysis and financial-planning discussions.
  • Provide appropriate financial-planning solutions within the adviser mandate and approved product environment.
  • Build long-term client relationships through regular reviews and ongoing service.
  • Identify suitable opportunities across life, risk, retirement, investment and related financial-planning needs, where authorised.
  • Maintain accurate client records and complete all required advice, disclosure and compliance documentation.
  • Manage the advice and sales process from initial client engagement through implementation and ongoing review.
  • Meet agreed production, activity, quality and compliance standards.
  • Represent the practice professionally and maintain high standards of client care and ethical conduct.
Minimum Requirements
  • Two to four years’ experience as a Financial Adviser, Financial Planner or similar client-facing advice professional.
  • Current adviser production or gross annual commission above R250,000 per annum. This is a firm threshold for this mandate.
  • Demonstrable ability to prospect, convert and retain client relationships.
  • Evidence of consistent new-business activity and an established client-development approach.
  • Comfort operating within a commission-based remuneration model.
  • Strong prospecting, networking and relationship-development capability.
  • Self-discipline and commercial drive, with the ability to manage an adviser pipeline independently.
  • Strong communication, presentation and relationship-management skills.
  • Professional judgement, integrity and a client-focused approach.
  • The ability to operate within the regulatory, advice-record and compliance standards applicable to financial advisers.
Regulatory standing

Candidates must be able to satisfy the applicable FAIS and Fit and Proper requirements for appointment, and must be in good standing for a regulated financial-advice role. Exact qualification, RE5, Class of Business, continuous professional development and product-category requirements are verified during ACG screening and before submission to the client.

Skills and competencies
  • Prospecting, networking and business development.
  • Structured fact-finding and needs analysis.
  • Client relationship management and long-term portfolio retention.
  • Advice documentation, disclosure and compliance discipline.
  • Independent pipeline and activity management.
Personal attributes

This mandate suits a commercially driven adviser who is confident in business development and client acquisition, and who manages a personal advice pipeline without needing to be directed. The practice is looking for someone whose production record already demonstrates that, rather than someone intending to build it from a standing start.

Candidate information required

A detailed curriculum vitae, together with evidence of current adviser production or gross annual commission. Suitable candidates are screened by ACG Growth Partners before presentation to the client.
