Our client in the paper and chemical distribution industry is looking to employ a Senior Warehouse Manager to join their team based in Cape Town.
The Senior Warehouse Manager will oversee and optimise all warehouse, distribution, logistics, and fleet operations at the Cape Town facility. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong operational control, disciplined stock management, and the ability to collaborate closely with sales, procurement, finance, and external service providers.
The ideal candidate will bring 7 to 10 years’ proven experience in warehouse and distribution management, preferably in environments handling paper and or chemical products.
Requirements- Relevant tertiary qualification
- 7 to 10 years’ experience in warehouse and distribution management
- Proven experience managing large teams and disciplinary processes
- Strong knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Solid stock management and inventory control experience
- Fleet planning and maintenance experience
- Vendor and service provider management experience
- Ability to work closely with sales and operational stakeholders
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans
- Exposure to paper products and or chemical products
- High-volume or complex distribution environments
- Experience implementing process or system improvements
- Own reliable vehicle and Valid driver’s licence
- Full oversight of daily warehouse and distribution operations
- Plan, manage, and optimise inbound and outbound logistics
- Ensure efficient warehouse layout, storage, and handling practices
- Drive continuous improvement to increase productivity and reduce costs
- Full accountability for stock control and inventory accuracy
- Implement and maintain robust stock management systems
- Oversee cycle counts, stock takes, variance investigations, and reporting
- Minimise stock losses, damages, and expiries
- Ensure full compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation
- Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and safety training
- Manage incident reporting and corrective actions
- Lead, manage, and develop warehouse staff and supervisors
- Handle disciplinary processes in line with labour legislation
- Drive performance management, training, and succession planning
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence
- Oversee fleet planning, utilisation, and route efficiency
- Manage vehicle maintenance schedules and compliance
- Coordinate warehouse equipment and facility maintenance
- Manage third-party service providers and vendors
- Negotiate and monitor service level agreements
- Ensure reliable and cost-effective supplier performance
- Work closely with sales to meet customer demand and delivery commitments
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, and operations teams
- Provide operational input into forecasting and capacity planning
- Ensure audit-ready documentation and compliance records
- Contribute to budgeting and cost-control initiatives
