Overview

A luxury hospitality group is opening a premium casual dining concept in Cape Town and is appointing a Head Chef to lead the kitchen operation end to end. This role carries full responsibility for food quality, team leadership, cost control, and operational discipline from launch through day-to-day service. The position suits a commercially minded chef who leads from the front and maintains high standards in a fast-paced environment.

• Take full ownership of kitchen operations, ensuring consistent food quality and presentation
• Lead, train, schedule, and manage the kitchen brigade across all sections
• Ensure menu execution, recipe compliance, portion control, and waste management
• Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and health compliance standards
• Manage food cost control, ordering, stock rotation, and supplier relationships
• Collaborate with senior management on menu development and operational improvements
• Lead service with confidence, maintaining standards during high-volume periods

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in premium casual or upscale dining
• Proven ability to lead and develop kitchen teams
• Strong operational and cost-control experience
• Solid understanding of kitchen administration and GP management
• Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
• Calm, structured leadership style suited to high-pressure service environments
• Stable career and good references

• Salary: ZAR 35,000 per month (CTC)
