Qualified Diesel Mechanic / Technician with Red Seal

Location: Cape Town, South Africa

The company, a leading specialist in heavy-duty automatic transmissions with over 30 years of industry expertise, is seeking a Qualified Diesel Mechanic/Technician to join our team.

Minimum Requirements

• Trade-tested Diesel Mechanic (Merseta Red Seal qualification required)
• 3–5 years relevant experience in diesel mechanics and heavy-duty vehicles
• Proficient communication skills (read, write, and speak) in Afrikaans and English
• Valid driver’s license (Code 10/14 advantageous)
• Own reliable transport
• Good health and physically fit for the role
• Computer literacy (basic/intermediate level) with ability to operate diagnostic equipment
• Must be available immediately
• Reside in Cape Town or immediate surrounding areas

Working Conditions

• Working hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 17:00
• Trial period: 1–2 weeks (paid), permanent appointment subject to successful completion (if unemployed)
• Standby availability required (24/7) for call-outs and breakdown assistance
• Overtime may be required on short notice

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine vehicle services
• Work collaboratively and assist fellow employees in a team environment
• Remove, strip, and replace transmissions on heavy-duty vehicles
• Conduct fault finding and diagnostics (mechanical and electrical)
• Perform dyno testing and operate diagnostic equipment
• Drive and test vehicles after work has been completed (if in possession of a valid Code 10/14 driver’s license)
• Compile detailed job card reports
• Assist with collection and delivery of parts from customers and suppliers

Remuneration

• Salary is market-related and dependent on qualifications, skills, and experience. (R16K-R26K)
