Electro-Mechanical Technician required in Cape Town.

An opportunity for a hands-on Electro-Mechanical Technician to lead and undertake equipment assembly, maintenance and installations functions in this organisation, which specialises in medical equipment (Plant Room – PSA oxygen systems, Compressors, Vacuum systems etc) and medical pipeline installations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime, coordinating and undertaking preventative maintenance, and providing technical support to clients and technicians in the field. For equipment assembly and installations, to work closely with the project engineer and the installations/production teams ensuring equipment assembly & installations are executed to plan.

Location:

Retreat, Southern Suburbs (only candidate that resides in Cape Town will be considered).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Trade Tested Electrician or Millwright (Red Seal)
  • Registered with ECSA will be advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years’ maintenance experience within manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
  • Able to read mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Good mechanical maintenance experience & knowledge on equipment such as air compressors and vacuum pumps
  • Experienced in PLC fault finding (DELTA PLC’s and programming experience advantageous)
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Computer literacy and maintenance reporting experience (AutoCAD advantageous)
  • Own Vehicle and Valid driver’s licence
  • Working Hours:

    Monday to Thursday 07.30 to 16.30, Friday 07.30 to 15.30
  • Must be available via cell phone support after hours

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and execute preventative and breakdown/crisis maintenance
  • Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding on equipment
  • Perform equipment installations, modifications and commissioning activities

    Plant room equipment assembly and testing, including electrical panels
  • Maintain and repair utilities including air compressors, air dryers, vacuum pumps, oxygen generators (PSA) and related equipment services
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment and pneumatic systems
  • Assists clients (field technicians and end-users) remotely (by phone) as and when they require assistance with maintenance related queries or breakdowns
  • Maintain maintenance records and schedules and QMS documentation
  • Maintain housekeeping standards within workshop and production
