We have an exciting opportunity at our client based in Cape Town looking for a Fitter. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing hydraulic piping, hoses and mechanical systems on plants, machinery and mobile equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain and repair hydraulic pipes, hoses, tubing and fittings.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
- Measure, cut, bend and prepare pipes and tubing.
- Assemble and replace hydraulic hoses, fittings and couplings.
- Perform hydraulic hose crimping and hose assembly.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic leaks, pressure issues and damaged components.
- Work with hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, motors and manifolds.
- Conduct pressure and functional testing of hydraulic systems.
- Maintain and repair plant, machinery and mobile equipment.
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Replace worn or damaged pipes, hoses and hydraulic components.
- Maintain safe work practices, good housekeeping and accurate maintenance records.
- 3–5 years' experience in pipe fitting, hydraulics or mechanical maintenance.
- Trade Tested Fitter would be advantageous.
- Strong hands-on experience with hydraulic systems and hose crimping.
- Experience with plant, industrial or mobile equipment advantageous.
- Ability to fault-find and resolve hydraulic and mechanical problems.
