An established manufacturing business is seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Millwright to join its Production team.
(Plastic Industry)
This is a hands‑on role focused on improving plant reliability, reducing production downtime and ensuring manufacturing equipment is maintained to a high operational standard.
The position is available for immediate placement
, although the start date can be negotiated for the right candidate.
- Attend to mechanical and electrical breakdowns
. - Diagnose recurring machine faults and identify root causes.
- Maintain production equipment, including moulding, assembly, printing, conveying and ancillary machinery
. - Maintain motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains and shafts
. - Fault-find electrical panels, sensors, contractors, relays and motor circuits.
- Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems
. - Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules
. - Conduct planned servicing and equipment inspections.
- Maintain accurate machine and equipment registers.
- Record breakdowns, repairs, downtime and parts used.
- Identify critical spare parts and recommend appropriate stock levels.
- Liaise with machine suppliers and specialist contractors.
- Assist with machinery installation, relocation and commissioning
. - Maintain high housekeeping and contamination‑control standards within the production environment.
- Recognised Millwright Trade Test Certificate – essential.
- Matric or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3 years' post-trade Millwright experience within a production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding skills.
- Experience with three‑phase motors and industrial electrical systems
. - Good working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
. - Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Able to work independently and make sound decisions during breakdowns.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Willing and able to work overtime and provide after‑hours breakdown support when required.
Monday to Friday: 07:00 – 16:00
Candidates must be willing to work overtime, weekends and occasional night shifts in the event of breakdowns or operational requirements.
Salary: Market related – candidates should advise their wage/salary expectation.
Payment: Fortnightly.
