Telecommunications Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecommunications Technician to join their growing team in Cape Town . This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems, ensuring reliable service delivery to our customers. You will be a key player in upholding the quality and efficiency of our network infrastructure, working both on-site and remotely to diagnose and resolve technical issues.

This hybrid position offers a balance between field operations and remote support, allowing you to contribute directly to customer satisfaction and network integrity within the vibrant Western Cape region.

• Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications systems, including fiber optic cables, switches, routers, and base stations.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics on network equipment to prevent service disruptions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by customers or detected through network monitoring systems.
• Respond to service calls, identify the root cause of problems, and implement effective repair solutions.
• Collaborate with the network operations center (NOC) and engineering teams on system upgrades and new deployments.
• Ensure all installations and repairs adhere to company standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.

• Relevant technical certification or a diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or in a similar technical role.
• Solid understanding of telecommunications principles, including fiber optics, cellular networks, and IP-based systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for network testing and repair.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Cape Town area as required for on-site tasks.
