Lead Telecoms Field Technician

Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Lead Telecoms Field Technician to oversee installation, maintenance, and repair operations in the Cape Town area. This hands‑on leadership role requires a deep understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to guide a team of technicians effectively. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and efficiency of field operations, acting as a technical point of contact for complex issues, and upholding the highest standards of service delivery for our client's customers.

• Lead and mentor a team of field technicians, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
• Install, configure, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including fiber optic cables, routers, and switches, at customer sites.
• Perform diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of network and equipment issues, resolving problems efficiently.
• Respond to service calls and emergency situations, ensuring rapid and effective resolution of network disruptions.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to plan and execute network installations and upgrades.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment inventory, and service reports for the Cape Town region.

• Proven experience as a Telecoms Field Technician , with at least 5 years in a lead or senior capacity.
• Strong practical knowledge of fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing techniques.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing issues with DSL, VoIP, and other telecommunications systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential for field operations in Western Cape .
