Why you should consider teaching for SIU's School of Aviation: SIU's School of Aviation is part of a vibrant Aviation community in Southern Illinois. Located on a separate airport campus, we offer undergraduate degrees in Aircraft Maintenance (our Aviation Technologies program), Aviation Flight, and Aviation Management.
We also offer graduate degrees in Aviation Management. SIU considers a Masters Degree to be the terminal degree in Aviation, so this position offers the expectation of tenure without the requirement for a Ph.D. Our typical tenure track academic load is nine credit hour equivalents per semester - significantly less than many of our sister institutions. Our Assistant Professors are expected to pursue a research agenda, but don't let this scare you.
We offer ample resources to help new faculty with this process, including mentoring, course releases, and startup packages. With these course releases, you can expect academic loads as low as six credit hour equivalents as you are learning the ropes.
For the aviation enthusiast - and we hope you are - our Airport Campus is located at Southern Illinois Airport (KMDH).
Between our SIU programs and local aircraft businesses, our airport is a "happening" place. It is not unusual to see five or six small aircraft in the pattern at any given time.
Many of our Aviation Technologies students find part time employment with Crucial Aviation, Enhanced…
