Overview

The School of Psychological and Behavioral Sciences (SPBS) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is hiring a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Behavior Analysis. The position focuses on Applied Behavior Analysis with an emphasis on early intervention techniques, Autism Spectrum Disorders, developmental disabilities, Functional Communication Training, Functional Analysis, and parent training. The anticipated start date for all appointments is August 11, 2026.

• Maintain an active, independent research program that involves training and supervising students.
• Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in behavior analysis.
• Supervise practicum and internship experiences.
• Advise graduate students at the master’s and doctoral levels.
• Supervise thesis and dissertation research.
• Provide oversight of the on‑campus autism clinic.
• Seek external funding for research and graduate student support.

• Ph.D. in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or a related discipline.
• Certification in behavior analysis (BCBA or BCBA‑D).
• History of peer‑reviewed publications and demonstrated potential to sustain an independent research program.
• Experience teaching and supervising graduate students.
• ABD candidates will be considered if all Ph.D. requirements are completed by the anticipated start date; otherwise a one‑year appointment may be offered.

• Post‑doctoral training.
• Record of securing external research funding.
