Art Therapy Foundations and Practicum Field Observations Instructor

The School of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applicants for a part-time, non-tenure track, term appointment with emphasis in art therapy foundations and practicum field observations. The applicant will teach pre-art therapy courses and supervise field work for undergraduate students. The applicant will serve as liaison between SIUC and community practicum partners and will serve as capstone committee chair for all undergraduate pre-art therapy students.

Due to the newly established $100,000 fee for H-1B petitions requesting consular processing outside of the U.S., Southern Illinois University is unable to provide H-1B sponsorship at this time for any prospective applicant who is outside of the U.S. and requires consular processing. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. This position is represented by SIU Carbondale Non-Tenure Track Faculty Association/IEA-NEA.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completed Master's degree by date of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Art Therapist–Board Certified (ATR-BC), and/or National Certified Counselor (NCC)
  • Minimum of two years of college/university teaching experience and/or relevant field experience

The School of Art and Design (SoAD) has 15 T/TT faculty members, 13 NTT faculty members, approximately 145 undergraduate students, 32 graduate students and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). SoAD offers: a BFA degree in Art with specializations in Art Education, Painting, Pre-Art Therapy, Ceramics, Communication Design, Drawing, Glass, Industrial Design, Metalsmithing, Printmaking, Sculpture;

a BA degree in Art with specializations in Art Education, Art History, General Studio, Photography; a MFA degree with specializations in Design, Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Sculpture, Ceramics, Glass, and Metalsmithing; and a graduate certificate in Art History. The College of Arts and Media houses six schools:
Architecture;
Art and Design;
Journalism;
Media Arts;
Music;
Theater & Dance. The breadth of programs offered in the college provides a rich environment for interdisciplinary collaborative research.
