Description

The School of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU Carbondale) invites applications for a 75% FTE Assistant Professor of Practice position in Industrial Design. The successful candidate will support the Design program by teaching Industrial Design courses and by preparing students for industry success. Ideal applicants will bring both professional experience and teaching capabilities in industrial design. In addition to teaching, the position requires hands‑on rapid prototyping and supervision of the shop/labs.

Candidates with experience in rapid prototyping, digital fabrication, and shop operations are strongly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, overseeing student use of fabrication spaces, and supporting safe, effective learning environments.

Due to the newly established $100,000 fee for H-1B petitions requesting consular processing outside of the U.S., Southern Illinois University is unable to provide H-1B sponsorship at this time for any prospective applicant who is outside of the U.S. and requires consular processing.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
