The School of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU Carbondale) invites applications for a Lecturer position in Industrial Design. This 25% FTE position requires teaching one Industrial Design course during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Responsibilities

Teaching undergraduate and graduate level design courses, including holding office hours, grading, and submitting final grades.

Developing course materials that prepare students for subsequent design courses.

Participating in Design Portfolio Evaluation and occasional program planning or recruitment activities.

Minimum Qualifications

A terminal degree in a design‑related discipline (e.g., Ph.D. in Design, MFA in Industrial Design, MDes or MS in Industrial Design, or closely related field) by time of hire.
A BFA or BA degree with a specialization in Industrial Design plus a minimum of 5 years of professional industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior college‑level teaching experience.
Professional experience in industrial design practice.
Experience with shop tools, rapid prototyping, and digital fabrication workflows.
