Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Preventionist /Staff Development Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the quality of resident care and outcomes as they relate to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI) in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze HAI data.
  • Present infection data and make recommendations for actions.
  • Monitor associate compliance with infection control standards through the use of barriers and infection prevention measures.
  • Prepare and present education for staff, residents, and families.
  • Serve as the designated associate responsible for monitoring Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Serve as the on‑site infection preventionist for COVID‑19 prevention and response activities, in accordance with current CDC guidance.
  • Work onsite at the physical facility; may not be an off‑site consultant or perform IP work at a separate location such as a corporate office or affiliated short‑term acute care facility.
  • Hold responsibility for the development and accountability of the Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
  • Maintain current knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices.
  • Be knowledgeable of Infection Prevention and Control practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post‑acute care facility.
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures related to Infection Prevention.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Understand and follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing mandatory compliance training.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements
  • Nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing).
  • Maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Specialized IPC training beyond initial professional training or education prior to assuming the role.
  • Certifications or training per State requirements (e.g., Certified TB Nurse).
  • Re‑evaluate knowledge and skills and obtain additional training as the facility's resident population or scope of care changes.
