• Provide direct, bedside nursing care on a Med Surg unit with a focus on stroke and postoperative patients; monitor neurological status and overall clinical condition
• Administer medications and IV therapies (including heparin drips), perform wound care, manage drains, chest tubes, and feeding tubes; respond to changes in patient status
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, document findings in the electronic health record, and update care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Support CIWA protocols, monitor for acute kidney injury (AKI), dialysis needs, and COPD exacerbations; collaborate on discharge planning and patient education
• Maintain patient safety and comfort, communicate with physicians and family members, and ensure compliance with unit policies and evidence-based practices
• Adhere to unit staffing ratios (5:1 on days; 5–6:1 on nights); participate in three 12-hour shifts per week and every-other weekend and every-other holiday schedule

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
• CPR/BLS certification; ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification required; stroke-care experience or stroke certification preferred
• Ability to work nights and three 12-hour shifts per week; availability for every-other weekend and holiday
• Experience on medical-surgical units with exposure to stroke care, post-operative patients, and complex conditions is preferred
