Position: DV Transitional Housing Case Manager

Job Summary

Responsible for providing services that will help survivors of domestic violence remain in their current housing or regain permanent housing. Responsible for providing case management and social services to residential clients and coordinates services with other Survivor Empowerment Center and community programs.

Essential Functions
  • Admits and determines client eligibility and assists in meeting their immediate needs around safety and stability.
  • Completes case planning with transitional housing and residential clients and updates these case plans weekly.
  • Provides advocacy, information, and other appropriate services. Connects clients with community resources and advocates for clients as needed.
  • Assist survivors to overcome barriers related to housing stability by determining cash assistance needed and eligibility for HUD Housing First funding.
  • Documents all contacts with clients in individual client files as mandated by funder guidelines and provides this documentation as requested.
  • Compiles statistical information monthly and reports it to the appropriate staff for inclusion in Survivor Empowerment Center reports.
  • Coordinates work activities with other Shelter program staff.
  • Recommends policy and programmatic changes to the domestic violence/shelter program coordinator when indicated.
  • Attends networking meetings as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree required with at least one (1) year of relevant counseling or case management experience (preferably with victims of domestic violence) or Master's degree in Human Services field or equivalent experience
    • Knowledge of sexual assault/domestic violence issues and previous training on those issues preferred (40 hours of prior domestic violence training preferred)
    • Strong people and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and give attention to detail
    • Ability to communicate orally in conversation both in person and by telephone
    • Ability to work well with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and age groups, and with individuals who are differently-abled
    • Ability to deal with stress-related situations
    • Ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timetables
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Ability to work in a team setting and embrace the concept of teamwork
    • Must have a demonstrated commitment to women and non-violence through previous volunteer work or employment preferred
    • Must be willing to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings
    • Must be willing to carry a pager one week per month after hours, Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m.

      -8:00 a.m.
    • Must have current driver's license, car with current automobile insurance, and a willingness to travel
