The Victim Witness Coordinator shall respond to victims regarding the emotional, physical and financial aftermath of victimization; perform initial screening of citizens involved with cases assigned to Assistant Attorneys General; prepare and maintain records of victim contacts; provide victims with orientation to the Criminal Justice process, keeping them apprised of updates; assess financial loss of victims and provide information regarding Crime Victims Compensation;
and represent the Office of the Attorney General within the social service community. It is also the responsibility of the Victim Witness Coordinator to assess problems and, when appropriate, provide citizens with referrals to alternate community organizations for additional assistance.
This position requires a bachelor's degree (or the equivalent thereof) in behavioral sciences, sociology, criminal justice and/or social work; extensive knowledge of community resources and social agencies; and outstanding multi-level communication (diversity). Attendance and the ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the general public are essential functions of this position.
