Shift-based Operations Primary Purpose of the Role The Junior Quality Control Specialist will support quality assurance and quality control activities within the Kelp Blue processing factory. The successful candidate will perform laboratory testing, monitor raw material and product quality, maintain ISO 9001-compliant documentation, and support production processes including CIP chemical preparation and batch traceability. This role is essential in ensuring the production of high-quality kelp biostimulant products through accurate testing, proactive quality monitoring, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities Quality Control & Laboratory Operations
• Perform routine in-house QC testing including Brix, pH, dry matter, conductivity, and related analyses
• Monitor product quality throughout production processes
• Maintain calibration schedules and QC equipment records
• Assist in developing and updating SOPs and QC procedures
• Support ISO 9001 compliance and traceability systems
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and live QC data tracking Product & Raw Material Quality Monitoring
• Conduct quality assessments on harvested kelp material
• Monitor seasonal composition trends and report findings
• Coordinate outsourced laboratory analyses when required
• Assist with formulation trials and efficacy testing Production Support
• Prepare cleaning chemicals and preservatives according to protocols
• Support CIP (Clean-In-Place) and nitrogen sparging procedures
• Verify final product specifications before packaging
• Assist with batch tracking and shipping documentation Document

• Identify quality deviations and support corrective actions
• Recommend improvements to QC systems and testing methods
• Support development of in-house analytical capabilities

Minimum Requirements Qualifications
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Bachelor’s Degree, Honours, or Master’s Degree in: o Biochemistry o Analytical Chemistry o Fisheries & Aquatic Sciences o Food Science / Food Technology (advantageous) o Marine Science / Aquaculture (advantageous) Experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Quality Control laboratory operations
• Experience with laboratory testing methods and equipment calibration
• Exposure to ISO 9001 systems and traceability documentation advantageous
• Experience in shift-based operations preferred
