Trainee Emissions Technician

Compensation: £25,500 - £30,000 / year
Are you looking to start or build a career in environmental monitoring and air quality? We are looking for a motivated Trainee Emissions Technician to join a growing environmental team, supporting emissions monitoring projects across a range of industrial sites. This is a hands‑on role offering excellent training and development, including the opportunity to work towards MCERTS Level 1 and develop a long‑term career within environmental testing and compliance.
Whatyou will do
- Support the delivery of stack emissions and air quality monitoring at industrial and commercial sites.
- Assist experienced technicians with setting up, operating and maintaining specialist monitoring equipment.
- Collect accurate environmental samples and monitoring data in line with relevant procedures and quality standards.
- Carry out basic equipment checks, calibrations and maintenance before and after site visits.
- Record site information clearly and accurately to support technical reporting.
- Follow strict health, safety and environmental procedures while working on client sites.
- Work alongside experienced colleagues and gain practical knowledge of environmental monitoring, emissions testing and regulatory compliance.
- Travel to different client locations, with occasional early starts, overnight stays or longer days depending on project requirements.
- Work towards achieving MCERTS Level 1 certification with full training and support provided.
- Interested in developing a career within environmental monitoring, air quality or emissions testing.
- Ideally have a qualification in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Applied Science or a similar subject, although relevant practical experience will also be considered.
- Comfortable working in a practical, site-based environment and using technical equipment.
- Confident working outdoors and in varying site conditions.
- Comfortable working at height where required, following full training and safety procedures.
- Have good attention to detail and understand the importance of accurate data collection and record keeping.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team while also using your own initiative.
- A reliable and professional communicator who is comfortable dealing with clients on site.
- Willing to learn and work towards MCERTS Level 1 and further industry qualifications.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and are happy to travel as part of the role.
