An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Gas Engineer within the Responsive Repair Unit, Housing & Communities.
Cardiff Council’s Responsive Repairs Unit delivers essential maintenance and compliance works across the Council’s domestic housing stock, ensuring properties remain safe, compliant and well maintained.
About the jobWe are seeking a qualified Gas Engineer to carry out servicing, safety inspections, fault diagnosis and repairs to domestic gas appliances and heating systems within Council properties.
You will undertake annual gas safety checks, respond to breakdowns and complete maintenance works in accordance with current legislation, Gas Safe requirements and Council procedures. The role involves working in tenants’ homes and maintaining accurate records of all works completed.
What We Are Looking For From YouAn NVQ Level 2 (Heating & Pluming) or/ City & Guilds basic craft certificate or equivalent in an approved trade is essential for this post, plus an in-date ACS Gas Qualification including:
- CCN1
- CENWAT
- CKR1
- HTR1
- MET1
Although not an essential requirement, Renewable Energy training or experience (e.g. heat pumps or low‑carbon heating systems) would be an advantage.

This role attracts a Tool Allowance of £444.24 per annum.
A full and valid driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.
