- Use diagnostic tools and schematics to identify and correct issues with electrical systems, engine, transmission, and aerial systems on all Entergy owned, leased, or rented equipment.
- Have general ability (not expert) to read codes and perform function tests and interpret results.
- Possess basic automotive electrical knowledge and ability to use DVOM (Digital Volt-Ohm Meter) for voltage, resistance, and continuity testing.
- Make all necessary and routine repairs to internal combustion engines, exhaust systems, and emission control systems, including repairs to engine turbo, fuel injectors, EGR systems, etc.
- Make all chassis related repairs to steering and suspension systems.
- Search electronic sources to find information such as equipment identification info, inspection and repair procedures, fluid capacities, and torque specs (e.g., FLEET, manufacturer websites, on‑line manuals).
- Use task‑specific mechanical tools accurately (e.g., torque wrench, dial indicator, dial caliper).
- Diagnose and repair automotive HVAC systems.
- Have basic cutting, welding, and fabrication skills.
- Will be accompanied by an Automotive Hydraulic Technician during off‑system storm response and support storms as required.
- Travel safely to job site in an Entergy vehicle and work with customers to complete tasks with minimal interruption to line activity.
- Meet all qualifications, experience, and special qualifications for Automotive Hydraulic Technician Apprentice 1.
- Worked for at least two years as an Automotive Hydraulic Technician Apprentice 1, or have had equivalent experience or automotive or related certification from an accredited institution.
- Complete all manufacturer computer‑based training assigned by Fleet Management within 12 months.
- Hold IFPS certification; IFPS certified prior to promotion from Apprentice 1.
- New hires at Apprentice 2 level or above must obtain IFPS certification within 6 months of employment. Company will pay for up to 2 certification attempts and reimburse testing cost for the passing attempt; additional attempts may be reimbursed at management’s discretion.
- New hires at Apprentice 1 level or above must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License within the first 6 months of employment.
- Obtain automotive HVAC certification within 12 months through an EPA‑approved source such as ASE or MACS.
- Complete manufacturer bucket, digger, and PDM training as available in classroom settings.
- Willing and able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Meet all equipment weight qualifications (e.g., aerial bucket weight restrictions).
- Ability to climb up and down trucks, ladders, and equipment.
- Ability to pick up 50+ lbs.
- Meet all personal qualifications for Apprentice 1 technician position.
- Find and use diagnostic tools and schematics to identify and correct issues with electronic systems, engine, transmission, and aerial systems on all Entergy owned, leased, or rented equipment, with expert ability.
- Possess high automotive electrical knowledge and expert use of DVOM for all vehicle and equipment diagnostic purposes.
- Meet all qualifications, experience, and special qualifications for Automotive Hydraulic Technician Apprentice 2.
- Worked for at least two years and qualified as an Automotive Hydraulic Technician Apprentice 2, or have had equivalent experience or automotive or related certification from an accredited institution.
- Complete understanding of automotive electrical and DVOM usage; ability to find and understand electrical schematics; test and diagnose sensors, switches, and other circuit components.
- Advanced understanding of internal combustion engines and emission control systems.
- Advanced hydraulic understanding; ability to research and understand hydraulic schematics.
