Welder​/Fabricator​/Line Borer

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Welder Fabricator to join an industry‑leading organisation and the world’s largest Caterpillar dealership at our flagship workshop based in Llantrisant. Within this role you will play an active role in the welding operations to ensure all work is completed to achieve the agreed service delivery date and at the quoted costs.

• Monday – Friday working week (flexi start times + overtime)

• Providing support in welding and material investigations
• Operation of welding equipment
• Following standard operating procedures in the safe set up and operation of welding equipment
• Visual inspection of completed welds to contract acceptance standards / project requirements
• Providing support in qualification / substantiation of weld parts
• Set up and operate portable line boring equipment on‑site and in workshops
• Carry out bore welding and machining repairs on heavy plant, construction, mining, agricultural and industrial equipment
• Carry out daily equipment checks, ensuring that any faults are reported immediately
• Follow basic technical drawings to complete work within specification

• Experienced welder, MIG welder with a strong welding & fabrication background (apprentice trained C&G / NVQ would be beneficial)
• Strong knowledge of line boring, bore welding and precision machining techniques (TIG would be beneficial)
• Proficient in MIG welding (TIG would be beneficial)
• Proficient working on mild steel
• Strong knowledge of line boring, bore welding and precision machining techniques
• Familiar welding of heavy plate and structural steel
• Experience repairing heavy plant equipment such as excavators, loaders, dumpers, crushers and attachments
• Understanding of weld defects and causes
• Experience using hand tools and preheating equipment
• Able to set up welding machinery, power settings etc.
• Able to read and follow technical drawings
• Able to work as part of a team or individually
• Excellent knowledge of health & safety procedures
