About the Role:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Domestic Electrician (Residential Refurbishment & Insurance Reinstatement) to work across residential properties requiring electrical repairs, refurbishment works, and insurance reinstatement following property damage.

The Domestic Electrician will be responsible for carrying out electrical installations, fault finding, testing and remedial works within occupied and vacant homes. Projects will typically involve properties undergoing refurbishment or reinstatement following events such as fire, flood, or accidental damage.

This role requires a proactive and professional Domestic Electrician who takes pride in their trade and consistently delivers high standards of workmanship. As you will often be working directly within customers’ homes, strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach are essential. You will act as the face of the company, representing the business while providing a reliable and professional service to homeowners and policyholders.

Key Responsibilities:

* Carry out electrical works within residential refurbishment and insurance reinstatement projects

* Diagnose and repair electrical faults within domestic properties

* Complete electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance to a high professional standard

* Carry out inspection, testing, and certification of electrical systems

* Work within planned refurbishment programmes as well as respond to reactive repair works

* Source materials and components required for repairs and installations

* Maintain accurate records of works completed, including documentation and job reports

* Provide quotations and recommendations for additional works where appropriate

* Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations and safety standards

* Communicate professionally with homeowners, policyholders, and site teams

* Identify potential risks or safety concerns and report findings to management

* Work in accordance with company health and safety policies and procedures

Electrical Surveys and Damage Assessment:

* Conduct electrical surveys, inspections, and condition assessments at residential properties across South Wales, including testing existing installations to evaluate safety, condition, and serviceability

* Assess electrical damage resulting from insured events (e.g. fire, flood, and escape of water), determine repair or replacement requirements, and identify any immediate electrical hazards with appropriate safety recommendations

* Document findings through photographs, test results, drawings and reports, providing clear conclusions and highlighting where further intrusive investigation or specialist input may be required

Essential Qualifications &

Experience:

* NVQ Level 3 qualified Electrician (time served)

* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations – BS7671:2018

* Inspection & Testing qualification – City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (or EAL equivalent)

* Strong experience in domestic electrical installation, fault finding, repair and testing

* Experience working within residential properties and domestic environments

* Experience working within refurbishment, property maintenance or insurance reinstatement is highly desirable

* Full UK driving licence

Skills & Attributes:

* Strong understanding of electrical standards, regulations, and compliance. Excellent fault finding and problem-solving skills. Highly organised with the ability to manage workloads independently

* Strong communication and customer service skills

* Professional and respectful when working within customers’ homes

* Reliable, hardworking, and flexible. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team

* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

* Existing NICEIC registration desirable but not essential
