Sr. Cost Accountant
Location:
Carlsbad, CA (Onsite, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm)
Salary Range: $100K-$130K base with excellent benefits
Reporting directly to the CFO.
Responsibilities- Analyze product and manufacturing costs, including BOM accuracy, labor, overhead, and material cost updates.
- Review and reconcile inventory accounts, such as WIP, raw materials, and finished goods.
- Perform variance analysis and identify root causes with cross-functional teams.
- Review quotes versus actual costs and ensure proper documentation for standard cost updates.
- Prepare monthly cost and margin reporting, including customer P&L cost views and site-level performance reporting.
- Support monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and cost roll-ups.
- Review AR/AP conciliation related to cost items and support resolution of open items.
- Partner with engineering and operations on BOM accuracy and ECO impacts.
- Provide cost forecasting support and review planned variances.
- Support annual budgeting, audits, and ad hoc cost analysis projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting large manufacturing organizations with annual revenues of $300M-$500M.
- Proficient in ERP systems (Epicor or similar preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Experience with multi-company or international cost structures.
- Prior experience analyzing BOMs, ECOs, MRB inventory, scrap, and PPV.
- Familiarity with microelectronics, precision manufacturing, or high-mix, low-volume environments.
- Experience supporting audits and providing cost documentation.
