Sr. Internal Auditor
Position within GIA's accounting department located in Carlsbad, CA. The Senior Internal Auditor leads and performs various risk‑based financial, operational, and compliance audit programs as part of the annual internal audit plan.
Job OverviewResponsibility includes assisting the Manager of Internal Audit with developing the audit scope, performing audit procedures, documenting, reviewing results, and preparing internal audit reports reflecting the results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in developing and completing various risk‑based audit programs under supervision.
- Execute all areas of the audit program including planning, testing, control evaluation, report drafting, and issue remediation.
- Ensure documentation of processes, risks, and internal controls in accordance with standards.
- Develop and perform audit program steps to test key controls identified in risk assessments.
- Ensure audit objectives are met with sufficient evidence to support audit conclusions.
- Collaborate with management to develop action plans and monitor implementation.
- Document audit results in written reports that are accurate and clearly communicate observations and action plans.
- Communicate written audit results in a timely, comprehensive manner to management and GIA leadership.
- Perform follow‑up on audit observations and management action plans.
- As auditor‑in‑charge, oversee day‑to‑day administration of assigned projects and report progress to manager or director.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
- Understanding of internal auditing standards, COSO framework, and risk assessment practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare coherent reports and present at multiple levels.
- Communicates effectively, collaborates well with coworkers and management under pressure.
- Demonstrates strong critical thinking, organizational, analytical, and multi‑tasking skills.
- Delivers assignments timely within budgets while achieving quality results.
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously.
- Interacts effectively with all levels of employees.
- Establishes client relationships and leads business discussions with client management.
- Maintains confidentiality and uses appropriate judgment regarding confidential information.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration/Management, or related field.
- 3+ years of internal auditing or public accounting firm experience.
- CIA or CPA certification strongly preferred.
- Work performed in a professional office workstation.
- Willingness to travel internationally and/or domestically as needed.
- Extensive use of office equipment including computer, calculator, copier, fax, and other relevant software.
$86,000 - $115,000 annually
