Overview
A rapidly growing CPA firm based in Carlsbad with corporate clients in 25 states is looking for a Staff Auditor to join their team. This newly created position is a result of company growth and offers a good work/life balance and the opportunity to work with a talented and friendly team. The role is hybrid.
Major Responsibilities of the Staff Auditor- Manage assigned clients—correspond with audit clients, schedule fieldwork, answer questions, etc.
- Ensure completion of tasks such as bank confirmations, predecessor auditor letters, invoice vouching, reserve study entry; review and sign off on pre-auditor/admin work papers.
- Review latest internal control questionnaire (before/during audit).
- Verify that client financial reports and records are accurate and reliable.
- Identify attorney letters and footnote/additional procedures.
- Contribute to team effort to meet deadlines.
- Prepare planning work papers, including materiality.
- Perform audit procedures for all assets, liabilities, equity, revenues, expenses.
- Verify information by comparing and analyzing items to documentation.
- Complete audit work papers by documenting audit tests and findings.
- Conduct subsequent events testing and inquiry and document results.
- Prepare equity reconciliations.
- Record journal entries for all audit adjustments.
- Document audit tests and findings; complete and sign off audit work papers.
- Correspond with audit manager on issues identified during audits.
- Correspond with audit manager on assigned clients regarding issues/new accounting procedures, planning strategies (busy season prep, testing, etc.).
- Correspond with admin and engagement coordinator, tax department as needed.
- Prepare audited financial statements.
- Answer questions from clients directly via email, phone, in person.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
- CPA or advancement toward CPA status.
- 0–2 years of progressive audit experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
