Collections Specialist

Description

Robert Half is partnering with a well-established manufacturing & distribution company in Carlsbad that is expanding their credit and collections team. They're seeking a Collections Specialist who is confident, persistent, and professional - someone who enjoys digging into aging reports, resolving discrepancies, and building relationships with customers to maintain healthy cash flow.

This role offers visibility across accounting, operations, and sales in a collaborative environment where communication and follow-through are essential.

What You'll Do

+ Manage a high-volume collections portfolio for domestic and international customers

+ Conduct proactive outreach via phone, email, and customer portals to resolve past-due balances

+ Investigate short pays, deductions, chargebacks, and unapplied cash with accuracy

+ Review and reconcile AR aging, apply payments, research variances, and resolve account discrepancies

+ Work cross‑functionally with Sales, Customer Service, and Shipping to confirm order status, credits, and disputes

+ Maintain detailed notes, documentation, and follow-up logs to support reporting needs

+ Process credit memos, write-offs, adjustments, and payment plans as needed

+ Support month-end: aging reports, collections metrics, cash forecast support, and SOX-lite documentation

+ Assist with credit checks, new customer setup, and risk evaluations

Requirements

+ 2-4+ years collections, AR, or credit experience

+ Strong communicator with confidence and diplomacy

+ Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or B2B environments preferred

+ Excel: VLOOKUPs, filters, pivot tables; ERP experience (Net Suite/SAP/Oracle a plus)

+ Organized, persistent, and solutions-oriented
