PositionSummary
We are looking for a Construction Site Safety Officer (SSHO) to join our West Coast Field Operations team for military projects located in San Diego County. Headquarter/Office assignment will be in Carlsbad, but specific construction projects, on an active military base, could be anywhere in San Diego County.
ResponsibilitiesOur Site Safety Officers (SSHO's) plan, prepare, organize, implement, and execute all safety administrative and performance requirements for an assigned project in accordance with contract specifications, EM‑385, OSHA, RQ internal Safety Management System, and Accident Prevention Plan (APP). They fully integrate with the project team to support the safe production of quality work. The SSHO may provide oversight to daily activities for assigned direct reports and must work on‑site.
Local candidates will be given preference depending on project location; relocation or travel to on‑site management may be required.
$90,000–$125,000 annually (depends on experience)

Ideal Candidates- A combination of equivalent work experience, training in the field, and/or Occupational Safety and Health certificate programs through OSHA Training Institutes or other nationally recognized safety training organizations. Professional certifications such as CHST, OHST, and ASP through BCSP may be qualifying.
- Five or more years of applied work experience (or equivalent) in the commercial construction industry, with five or more years of experience in construction safety management at the jobsite level.
- Competent person training or experience in Fall Protection, Confined Space, Electrical, Trenching/Excavation, PPE, and Scaffolding required. Other related professional degrees or certificates are desired and will be considered "in lieu of" competent person training.
- Five or more consecutive years of documented safety training, averaging 24 hours per year, required.
- Previous experience with NAVFAC, USACE clients and EM‑385‑1‑1 preferred.
- Specific software literacy (Viewpoint, RMS/QCS) preferred.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30‑hour certifications (within the past 5 years) required.
