Position Overview

Sun Country Builders is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of multi-family construction projects throughout California. The Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of assigned projects, including budgeting, scheduling, subcontract administration, contract compliance, quality control, and client relations.

Working closely with Superintendents, Assistant Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and executive leadership, the Project Manager ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities Project Management
  • Manage all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and cost forecasts
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve issues affecting schedule, budget, or quality
  • Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, contracts, and company standards
  • Coordinate project startup, execution, and closeout activities
Financial Management
  • Manage project budgets, cost reporting, and monthly forecasting
  • Review subcontractor proposals and participate in subcontractor buyout
  • Prepare and negotiate owner and subcontractor change orders
  • Monitor project profitability and implement cost-control measures
  • Review pay applications and subcontractor invoices for accuracy
Project Coordination
  • Lead project meetings, including Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and subcontractor coordination meetings
  • Coordinate activities between field operations, subcontractors, consultants, and design professionals
  • Review and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and project documentation
  • Maintain accurate project records and reporting
Client & Consultant Relations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional customer service
  • Resolve project challenges professionally while protecting the company's interests
  • Ensure client expectations are consistently met throughout the project lifecycle
Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide leadership and direction to Assistant Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and project support staff
  • Partner with Project Superintendents to maintain project schedules and field coordination
  • Foster collaboration among project teams and promote a positive working environment
  • Support employee development through coaching and mentorship
Risk Management & Quality Assurance
  • Monitor project risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Ensure projects comply with contractual obligations, company quality standards, and applicable regulations
  • Support project safety initiatives in partnership with field leadership
  • Oversee project closeout activities, warranties, and turnover documentation
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience managing multi-family construction projects with a general contractor
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, subcontract administration, budgeting, and project controls
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and change orders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, and Procore
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
  • Experience with affordable housing and publicly funded construction projects
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, and construction management software
  • Knowledge of California building codes and construction practices
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for data entry and document handling
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through email
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, or reach
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
