JOB DESCRIPTION JOB POSITION:
MLSS/SAT SPECIALIST MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five or more years of professional related experience in education as a teacher and/or administrator.
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may be substituted for other requirements.
- Proven interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and participate with staff and the public.
- Experience developing and implementing interventions to students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a Master’s degree in an educational related field.
- Evidence of effective people and management skills.
- Successful experience in leading instructional programming.
- Knowledge of and experience with use of collaboration protocols.
- Problem solving skills.

JOB GOAL:Responsible for ensuring that the MLSS/SAT process is in compliance with PED regulations. The MLSS Coordinator will support teachers in providing support to ALL students including students who are migrant, homeless, and in foster care. MLSS will allow teachers and health and wellness staff to intervene quickly when students are struggling academically or behaviorally by providing immediate support to those students in an educational crisis.
Work with District Central Office Administrators in providing Staff Development in RTI and the MLSS/SAT process for teachers and administrators. Lead the District’s Health and Safety committee. Serve on other committees as requested. Facilitate and lead Schools in Need of Improvement.
Position requires flexible hours (before and after school hours) to deal with staff development and meeting attendance as scheduled by the District or building level. Position requires flexible days, inclusive of summer days, to facilitate MLSS/SAT rollovers to next grade or building as well as attendance to Administrative Meetings prior to the beginning of teacher contract days and to meet and train administrators in the MLSS/SAT process prior to teacher duty days.
Organizational skills are essential to maintain all established plans (initial, in‑process, exited, etc.).
- Implement MLSS/SAT in ordinance with PED guidelines and applicable rules.
- Provides support for all District personnel in adhering to the MLSS/SAT process as defined by PED in NM.
- Coordinates MLSS/SAT campus Facilitators.
- Training of administrators and faculty on the MLSS/SAT process.

- Classroom coaching on targeted and intensive interventions for behavioral and academic support.
- Work with Special Ed. Dept. and PED to maintain knowledge of MLSS/SAT requirements.
- Works cooperatively with school personnel to ensure appropriate implementation of the MLSS/SAT process.
- Works cooperatively with school diagnosticians to ensure proper processes are used for sped testing referrals.
- Provide Professional Development Strategies for Continuous Improvement.
- Support all district teachers and administrators in the use of Synergy MTSS.
- Maintain current records of students requiring MLSS/SAT interventions throughout the year.
