Sea Perch Robotics Program Pacific Ridge School seeks a Middle School Robotics Assistant Coach. Sea Perch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). The Sea Perch Program provides students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade with the opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with a marine robotics theme.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following)- With the Middle School Sea Perch Robotics Coach, lead team meetings on campus from October through March on Wednesdays from 3pm to 5pm
- With the MS Robotics Coach, attend three Saturday competitions (two in March and one in April)
- Support teams in the robot design process and provide feedback
- Supervise and maintain a safe and organized workshop environment
- Coach students on team dynamics and leadership
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership skills, initiative, and the ability to take on increasing responsibilities
- Experience with robotics, electronics, general building experience (on-site training available)
- Experience with digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and/or CNC machines (on-site training available)
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- A passion for working with secondary school age children in STEM settings
