Assistive Technology Therapist Specialist in Carlsbad, CA

Desired Qualifications and

Experience:

• Proficiency in assistive technology devices and software for individuals with visual impairments
• Certification or demonstrated experience as a Braillist, including Braille transcription and material adaptation
• Strong understanding of accessibility guidelines and best practices for K-12 educational environments
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail when preparing learning materials
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaborating with diverse teams
• Experience in training staff, students, and families on adaptive devices and strategies preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess student needs and recommend appropriate assistive technology tools for classroom and remote learning
• Adapt and transcribe educational materials into Braille and tactile formats as required
• Provide orientation and ongoing support to students, educators, and families using assistive devices and software
• Work closely with teachers and specialists to monitor student progress and modify resources for individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Maintain an inventory of assistive technology devices and ensure timely updates and repairs
• Stay informed about the latest advancements in assistive technology and accessible educational materials
