This position will manage compliance and permits for North America Operations. This role will ensure consistency with environmental standards, policies, and procedures for NA Operations and Project Execution.
Job ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for:
- Effectively identifying, preventing, monitoring, detecting, resolving, and advising any noncompliance with respect to environmental reporting and environmental management system on all operating facilities in North America, along with providing support to project execution sites across North America.
- Reviewing and providing critical feedback and advice on how the new permit application should be drafted for upcoming build-to-operate projects or projects that are in development.
- Reviewing all environmental permits on each operating asset and ensuring the compliance calendar is up to date. All requirements are extracted and shared with the local plant managers by the regional director of operations in a crisp and clear manner.
- Work with the regional director of operations in drafting proper sampling and testing protocols that meet the compliance reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with the local compliance authorities, ensure that the testing protocols and the compliance calendar meet their expectations. This position is also responsible for ensuring the data provided by the facilities is accurate and reliable
- Drafting applications for permit modification, and/or proactively updating the local authorities on any possible process interruptions or noncompliance.
- Regularly (but no less than annually) auditing the Operating Facility and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks.
- Supporting the global operations lead in drafting and environmental compliance standard operating procedures for global plant operations.
- Conduct a permit, on request, but no less than annually, to determine whether established protocols are being followed and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Working closely with the regional staff reporting dotted line to this position to ensure that:
- Yearly process risk assessment is conducted, and preventive measures are identified for each operating facility.
- Site-specific training calendar and the training record are always kept up to date.
- The site inspection protocol, check sheets, inspection records, findings, along with preventive and corrective solutions, are always kept up to date.
- Data extraction from SCADA, instruments, and daily plant reports to meet the permit compliance reporting is done accurately and on schedule, approving any standard operating procedure updates.
- Devises, supervises, and coordinates training programs (velocity environmental) for new inductions as well as for recurring trainings.
- Advise management (COO & Sr. VP Global Plant Operations and VP Project Execution NA) on the company’s compliance with environmental regulations through detailed monthly reports.
- Review and provide recommendations on site audits, including corrective or preventative measures, and work with the regional director of operations and project management leads to develop and implement improvements. Create and track progress of effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and noncompliance
