Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for RF and microwave applications. With design, sales and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, our products are used in wired and wireless communications, as well as detection, measurement and imaging applications in military, automotive, medical, and industrial systems.

Mini-Circuits sells its products to over 20,000 customers globally through direct sales, applications engineering staff, sales representatives, and our website.

Position Summary

The Principal Design Engineer – MMIC is responsible for developing new MMIC products as defined by Marketing Strategists. The role covers all phases of product development from concept definition to release. The engineer will collaborate with Marketing, Project Managers, Product Engineers, Q&R Engineers, P&A Engineers and Test Engineers to ensure timely and successful product releases. At the Principal level, the engineer is expected to work independently with minimal supervision, while reporting and collaboration with Mini-Circuits teams worldwide are essential.

Salary Range: $199,000 to $215,000

Job Function
  • Target specifications feasibility.
  • MMIC design based on ADS simulation, including schematic simulation, layout, EM-simulation (2.5D, Momentum), and thermal simulation.
  • Design reports and design reviews.
  • Design validation with testing of samples in small-signal and large-signal conditions, design-variant selection, identifying improvement needs, and defining Design Verification Test conditions.
  • Maintain documentation and quality by following the MMIC development flow and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to ensure team success; attend design reviews, provide coaching and share knowledge.
  • Customer evaluation board design.
  • Execute tasks according to schedule; manage time, escalate issues, and coordinate with Project Managers to remove roadblocks and adjust schedules as needed.

The duties, responsibilities and expectations described above are not exhaustive and additional tasks may be assigned within the scope of the position.

Qualifications
  • BSEE with minimum 15 years’ related design experience OR
  • MSEE with minimum 10 years’ related design experience – preferred
  • Knowledge of microwave theory and techniques and MMIC process technologies.
  • Knowledge of power amplifier design techniques; 10+ years in GaAs and/or GaN; experience with other components (low-noise amplifiers, mixers, switches) desirable.
  • Familiarity with CAD software for circuit and electromagnetic simulation (ADS, HFSS, MWO, Momentum); PCB software familiarity desirable.
  • Professional, proactive, team-oriented, self-motivated with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
