Position Summary
MC Consultants is seeking an Expert in Biomechanics to serve as a lead forensic expert on injury causation and human response analyses. This role is ideal for experienced biomechanics professional with strong analytical skills, testimony experience, and the ability to communicate complex medical-engineering concepts clearly.
This individual serves as a lead case expert, a regional technical resource, and a mentor to developing associate staff, working closely with MC's multi-disciplinary teams. Core Responsibilities
Biomechanical Investigation and Analysis
* Serve as lead expert on injury causation and biomechanics matters
* Perform analyses of occupant kinematics, forces, accelerations, and injury mechanisms
* Evaluate consistency between claimed injuries and applied forces
* Integrate crash or event data from reconstruction experts as inputs to biomechanical analysis
* Review medical records, imaging, and scientific literature
Reporting, Testimony, and Client Support
* Prepare biomechanical expert reports suitable for litigation
* Provide expert testimony at depositions and trials
* Communicate biomechanical findings clearly to attorneys, adjusters, and courts
Mentorship and Collaboration
* Mentor junior biomechanics staff
* Collaborate with accident reconstruction and others to support integrated opinions
Geographic and Travel Scope
* Primary responsibility within an assigned region, with occasional travel outside the region as needed
* Travel varies by caseload and is typically moderate and predictable
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in engineering related to biomechanics
* Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in biomechanics or related field
* Demonstrated experience in injury causation analysis
* Deposition and/or trial testimony experience
Preferred Qualifications
* PhD strongly preferred
* Publications or research in biomechanics
* Experience interfacing with medical and legal professionals
* Experience mentoring or supervising technical staff
* Proven work experience in a forensic engineering or related field
* Experience interfacing with insurance industry representatives or attorneys and delivering expert testimony is strongly preferred.
