Prin Engineer, Project Engineering

Overview

At Collins Aerospace Optronics, we design and develop high-precision optical systems for space and airborne environments, and visual display systems for simulator and body-worn environments. As a Project Engineer, you will drive the successful execution of high-impact technical programs, demonstrating deep technical knowledge, program management expertise, and strong communication skills.

• Lead the planning, execution, and final delivery of technical programs, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Develop and manage comprehensive project and program plans—including scope, budget, resource allocation, risks, opportunities, detailed schedules, and customer deliverables.
• Build strong relationships and influence team members, suppliers, customers, and stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects and competing tasks, balancing priorities across team members.
• Prepare bids and proposal efforts in accordance with Collins Aerospace processes, including generation of all bid artifacts.

• Typically requires a STEM degree and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 5 years of experience.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in all aspects of technical project management.
• Experience in program management principles, methodologies, and tools.
• Experience delivering technical projects throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Experience with earned-value management, budget, and cost control.
• Experience with risk and opportunity management.
• Preference for at least 10 years of experience, experience with precision optics or visual display products, and familiarity with spaceborne, airborne, or ruggedized optical systems.
• Familiarity with cleanroom practices and opto-mechanical/optical assembly techniques.
