Roles and Responsibilities
- Create and analyze head designs using NX software. Create design models with frequent interaction between the Industrial Design, Product Analysis, Product Engineering and Development groups, the Legal department and multiple levels of management.
- Document head design specifications.
- Participate in cross functional teams evaluating design, development, manufacturing, and legal and marketing issues.
- Contribute to improvements in design processes and standards.
- Provide design timeline estimates and updates as the design progresses.
- Raise issues that may affect the success of the product and participate in the resolution of those issues.
- Follow design procedures and design standards as defined by the Category lead.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Other assigned duties may include support for research, design, legal, development, manufacturing, marketing and sales efforts.
- Good working knowledge of office software products (MS Windows, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
- Good critical thinking skills.
- Good knowledge of golf club design features critical to performance.
- Good knowledge of golf club head shape parameters (i.e. design parameters of face, sole, toe, hosel, etc.).
- Good knowledge of common golf club head construction methods.
- Knowledge of golf club testing and evaluation methods.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the physics of golf club performance.
- Knowledge of golf club design history and competitor models.
- Knowledge of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) products and/or Siemens Teamcenter preferred, alternate knowledge of Revision control and documentation required.
- CAD experience, tools similar to NX, Catia, ProE/Creo preferred;
Solidworks, AutoCAD, Rhino3D nice to have. - CAD modeling experience in solid modeling techniques, surfacing modeling techniques preferred.
- Solid ability to maintain design standards across lofts and/or other models in the product line.
- Strong ability to reverse engineer a design from Scan data and/or hand measurements.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in golf club head design and development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design or related field, or 4 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Work is performed in a designated professional office workstation and environment.
- Extensive use of office equipment to include computer, calculator, copier, fax, and other business related machines and software.
- Occasionally is exposed to excessive noise while on the shop floor.
