Overview
The Project Engineer II is responsible for coordinating engineering activities for industrial infrastructure and process plant projects to ensure design deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with project requirements and quality standards. This role supports project execution through technical coordination, design review, vendor and consultant management, risk assessment, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate has experience in industrial plant, renewable energy, wastewater, or process facility projects and can effectively support multiple concurrent projects in an EPC or design-build environment.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate engineering deliverables and project design activities to support overall project execution
- Develop and maintain engineering schedules, document tracking, and progress reporting
- Support Project Managers with technical coordination, budgeting, forecasting, and risk identification
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, vendor submittals, and third-party designs for accuracy and compliance
- Assist with procurement support including technical specifications and bid documentation
- Coordinate design review meetings and communicate project updates across internal and external teams
- Support construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors with technical issue resolution during project execution
- Review permitting and regulatory requirements and incorporate applicable conditions into project designs
- Participate in project risk assessments and support mitigation planning
- Ensure engineering activities comply with safety, quality, and contractual requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technical standardization efforts
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 5+ years of project engineering experience within industrial plants, EPC, process facilities, energy, wastewater, or heavy industrial construction
- Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control system design concepts
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and external consultants
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, contracts, engineering drawings, and project schedules
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with project management principles, procurement coordination, and construction support activities
- Knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, and permitting requirements
- Proficiency with engineering and project management software tools
- Renewable energy, biogas, wastewater treatment, or industrial process plant experience
- EPC or design-build project delivery experience
- Experience supporting field construction and commissioning activities
