Position: Sr Performance Gear Mechanical Innovation Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manages the Performance Gear product innovation, concepts, prototyping efforts, fabrication of concept samples, and early‑stage tooling.
  • Lead and manage the early innovation and blue‑sky concepts using a consumer‑first approach.
  • Explore new materials and constructions to advance Callaway products and operational efficiencies.
  • Conduct research in structural, hydraulic, or dynamic modeling of mechanical systems.
  • Concept, design, and model futuristic solutions for enhancements to consumer experience.
  • Collaborate with product development and suppliers to create design outputs based on consumer insights.
  • Coordinate all cross‑functional innovation activities with internal customers and collaborate with leaders in varied areas on projects and resource planning.
Technical Competencies
  • Must possess a portfolio of innovative product concepts and demonstrate a history of innovations in high‑volume manufactured products.
  • Expert level proficiency with Solidworks, Adobe CC and Microsoft Office programs required.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering, materials, and processes to fabricate and produce consumer‑packaged goods.
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals (mechanics of materials, precision, fabrication).
  • Understanding high‑volume manufacturing and assembly processes and creating mechanical drawings, including functional dimensioning and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and statistical tolerance analysis techniques.
  • Experience managing parts through various production stages and a history of engaging with suppliers to yield successful parts and assemblies.
  • Proficient knowledge of various manufacturing methods, including injection molding, stitching, forming, bonding, and lamination.
  • Passion for Golf and product design.
  • Previous Golf or Sporting Goods Industry experience is a plus.
  • 2D and 3D design, as well as prototyping skills, are a plus.
  • Solid Works or Rhino experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in Technical illustration and sketching.
  • Valid passport required.
Education & Experience
  • Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience using a variety of manufacturing processes.
  • 5+ years of consumer product design experience demonstrating the ability to work on complex products with large multidisciplinary teams.
  • Minimum 8 years of related experience focusing on Golf, Sporting Goods Equipment, or CPG.
  • Strong organizational skills combined with outstanding verbal and visual communicative ability.
  • Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally is required.
Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a designated professional office workstation and environment. Extensive use of office equipment and other business‑related machines and software. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
