Summary
Our client, a full-service architectural millwork shop, is seeking an experienced Millwork & Casework Estimator to manage the estimating process from initial bid review through final pricing submission. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for custom casework, architectural millwork, and finish carpentry packages while ensuring scope alignment with project drawings, specifications, and client expectations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented estimator with strong technical knowledge of millwork materials, fabrication methods, and construction processes who can confidently manage multiple bids and collaborate closely with production, vendors, architects, and contractors.
Duties & Responsibilities Estimating & Bid Preparation- Review architectural, engineering, and interior design drawings, as well as project specifications, to determine project scope and estimating requirements.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for casework, millwork, and finish carpentry packages.
- Develop complete scopes of work and project pricing based on project requirements, materials, labor, and fabrication needs.
- Manage the bid process from start to finish, ensuring estimates are completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost‑saving alternatives without compromising design intent, quality, or functionality.
- Source competitive pricing from vendors and suppliers for materials, hardware, and specialty components.
- Track historical estimate data, project costs, and industry pricing trends to improve estimating accuracy and competitiveness.
- Partner with the production team to ensure a smooth handoff from estimating to production and project management.
- Clarify scope, assumptions, and project details internally to support successful project execution.
- Assist in developing project plans and estimating strategies that align with fabrication capabilities and project schedules.
- Communicate clearly with clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams regarding project details, specifications, pricing clarifications, and bid questions.
- Support the resolution of scope questions and estimate clarifications during the bidding process.
- Verify that proposed designs, materials, and scopes align with client requirements and project expectations.
- Review proposed work to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
- Interpret architectural drawings and technical details with precision to ensure complete and accurate estimates.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in millwork, casework estimating, or a closely related field.
- Strong working knowledge of cabinetry, millwork materials, fabrication methods, and industry standards.
- Experience preparing detailed estimates for custom millwork, casework, or finish carpentry packages.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and design documents accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with estimating software such as Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, or similar programs is a plus.
- Strong ability to organize estimate data, vendor pricing, and bid documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in takeoffs, pricing, and scope review.
- Ability to work collaboratively with production teams, vendors, contractors, and design professionals.
