We are seeking a licensed Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) to join our growing team in Carlsbad. This role is ideal for a technically strong geologist with experience in geotechnical investigations, field oversight, and report preparation across a range of commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects throughout Southern California. This position involves a mix of fieldwork, technical analysis, and project management
, with strong growth potential into leadership.
You will play a key role in managing subsurface investigations, interpreting geologic conditions, and delivering high-quality technical reports that support design and construction.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and oversee geotechnical and geologic field investigations (drilling, logging, sampling, and testing)
- Perform detailed geologic mapping, fault investigations, and seismic hazard evaluations
- Interpret subsurface conditions and provide recommendations for grading, foundations, and earthwork
- Prepare and review geotechnical and engineering geology reports
- Prepare and review project proposals
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients
- Ensure compliance with California regulatory standards and local jurisdictional requirements
- Provide field oversight during construction, including grading and site development
- Active California CEG license (required)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical or engineering geology
- Strong understanding of Southern California geology, including seismic and fault hazards
- Experience with grading plans, slope stability, and foundation recommendations
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Fault trenching and seismic hazard analysis
- Experience working with agencies such as CGS, local municipalities, and building departments
- Familiarity with Southern California soil conditions and coastal environments
- Prior consulting experience in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with building clientele base and marketing- existing client relationships in Southern California is a plus
