Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensed in California to join their growing team. This individual will play a key role in overseeing and managing a variety of land surveying projects while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality deliverables.
The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated and detail‑oriented surveying professional with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. This role offers flexibility in work structure along with long‑term growth potential within a collaborative environment.
Duties & Responsibilities Project Management & Survey Oversight- Manage and oversee land surveying projects from initial planning through final delivery
- Ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and within deadlines
- Coordinate project schedules, priorities, and deliverables
- Monitor project progress and maintain quality standards
- Review and certify survey documents and deliverables
- Boundary surveys
- Topographic surveys
- ALTA/NSPS surveys
- Construction staking
- Record maps and legal descriptions
- Ensure compliance with:
- California land surveying regulations
- Local agency requirements
- Industry standards and best practices
- Provide technical oversight and support to field crews and office staff
- Review field data and calculations
- Verify survey accuracy and completeness
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving field issues
- Interpret and analyze:
- Survey data
- Legal descriptions
- Title reports
- Maps and plats
- Construction documents
- Utilize survey software and technology to prepare and review project deliverables
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and municipalities
- Maintain strong professional relationships
- Provide project updates and technical guidance
- Support client satisfaction and project success
- Collaborate with internal project teams to ensure efficient coordination between field and office operations
- Mentor and support junior survey staff as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required
- Strong experience managing land surveying projects
- Knowledge of:
- Boundary surveys
- Topographic surveys
- Construction staking
- Mapping and legal descriptions
- Understanding of California surveying regulations and standards
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- Experience working with:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Survey data processing software
- GPS and total station equipment
- Experience coordinating with:
- Civil engineers
- Contractors
- Public agencies
- Developers
