Hardware Engineer, Systems Engineer, Test Engineer
Job Title
Support the System Test engineering team with preparing for, maintaining, accomplishing and sustaining satellite antenna testing.
Scope includes:
- Regular equipment maintenance
- Security vulnerability reviews and related corrections on IT equipment to include servers, routers, switches, firewall hardware and test equipment
- Setting up RF test stations for system testing that can include over the air testing and mobile (truck) test configuration
- General lab maintenance
- Test engineering support activities
The day-to-day:
- Maintain the functionality and cosmetic look of the lab
- Keep all related documents up to date
- Maintain the hardware connectivity in good condition (AC Power, RF and Network cabling), build cables as needed
- Debug and repair modems as needed
- Add / replace equipment as needed
- Design and build hardware to support lab requirements, if not available off-the-shelf
- Prepare for and travel to test locations
- Pack, ship, un-pack, setup equipment as needed
- Test Viasat capabilities, technology and solutions in support of various programs
- Collaborate with Viasat, third-parties, smart-hands, customers, integrators, collaborators, etc.
- Prepare and complete required documentation to include test plans, test reports, and other program documents
What you'll need:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience
- 3 years of hands-on integration experience with large, complex communication networked systems
- Experience fixing and resolving RF signal path issues
- Experience demonstrating complex technical capabilities and differentiators in simple, compelling ways that create an atmosphere of customer engagement and excitement
- Demonstrated professional experience with using creative and innovative thinking to tackle problems and collaborating with engineers
- Familiarity with RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.)
- Ability to continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of equipment and systems to ensure optimal operation
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on short notice
- Citizenship: US Citizenship due to Export Administration Regulations Requirements
- Ability to gain restricted access to COMSEC equipment
- Linux command line knowledge
- Networking (TCP/IP) certificate or work experience
- Scripting experience

Salary range: $27.88 - $44.23 / hourly. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $34.86 - $52.16/ hourly.
