you’ll do

We are seeking a highly organized and operationally efficient Early Careers Recruiter to join our dynamic Early Careers team, onsite in Carlsbad, CA.

You will be instrumental in attracting, engaging, and hiring top early talent for Viasat globally. This role involves full-cycle recruitment, scaling global programs (internships/graduate development), building university relationships, and driving brand awareness to attract the next generation of our workforce.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Talent Strategy & Performance Development, you must be a skilled problem-solver capable of balancing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Strong relationship‑building with candidates, peers, and business leaders is essential for success.

  • Viasat embraces a hybrid work environment, you will be supporting onsite work including meetings, events, internship program, etc and must be commutable distance to Carlsbad office but you will have flexibility to work remotely as well.
  • This is a temporary position
The day‑to‑day
  • Partner with hiring managers and business leaders to understand early career hiring needs for internships, new graduate roles, and entry‑level positions in engineering, software development, and related fields.
  • Manage full cycle recruitment and Early career programming for our US and also global locations, including Australia, Brazil, UK.
  • Develop and execute innovative campus recruitment strategies to source diverse, high‑potential talent from target universities.
  • Lead site tours and intern events in Carlsbad, CA location and potentially travel to other US offices and campus events.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with university career centers, faculty, and student organizations to promote Viasat’s employer brand.
  • Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate assessment processes to identify candidates who align with Viasat’s technical and cultural fit.
  • Ensure inclusive hiring practices, compliance, and broaden talent pools.
  • Track recruitment metrics, report on hiring progress, and contribute to continuous improvement of our early career programs.
  • Ensure a seamless candidate experience from application to onboarding, working closely with global early career teams.
  • Play a key role in the delivery of Viasat’s internship and graduate development programs, including onboarding, networking events, mentor program, performance management, and learning and development.
  • Drive forecasting and strategy sessions with the business, focusing on building a talent pipeline through intern conversion.
  • Conduct recruitment workflows in ATS and CRM systems.
What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, human resources, communications, psychology or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in talent acquisition, specifically recruiting Early Careers candidates into technical roles (engineering, data science, etc).
  • Proven experience in Early Career full cycle recruitment and large scale program management.
  • Ability to work onsite at Carlsbad location 2-3 days/week (at most, will vary).
  • Event planning and execution.
  • Strong data interpretation skills, with excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% during peak recruitment season.
