About

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator with 10+ years of experience and proven exposure to gaming or interactive entertainment environments. This is a contract, hybrid role based in Carlsbad, CA, supporting enterprise-grade infrastructure across on-prem and cloud-integrated environments. You will be responsible for the stability, performance, and security of Windows and/or Linux server environments, virtualization platforms, identity services, and hybrid cloud integrations.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, operationally strong, and comfortable partnering with Dev Ops, Engineering, and IT teams to keep development and production systems running smoothly—especially during milestone pushes and release cycles.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server and/or Linux environments across development, staging, and production
  • Administer virtualization platforms such as VMware and/or Hyper-V, including provisioning, capacity, and performance tuning
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, identity/access controls, and endpoint authentication services
  • Support hybrid cloud infrastructure integrations (AWS, Azure, or similar), including connectivity, access policies, and resource governance
  • Monitor system health, performance, and availability; respond to alerts and drive incident resolution to maintain uptime
  • Implement and manage patching, backups, disaster recovery, and restoration testing to ensure resilience and continuity
  • Troubleshoot hardware, OS, application, and infrastructure issues; perform root cause analysis and implement preventative fixes
  • Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, runbooks, operational procedures, and change management
  • Ensure alignment with security policies and best practices, including hardening, vulnerability remediation, and access auditing
  • Partner cross-functionally to support studio workflows and production operations, ensuring systems remain scalable and release-ready
What We’re Looking For (Required Qualifications) Domain
  • Proven experience supporting infrastructure within the gaming or interactive entertainment industry
  • Familiarity with production pressures and uptime expectations supporting development and live operations
Skills
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server and/or Linux administration (provisioning, hardening, performance, troubleshooting)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) including lifecycle management and optimization
  • Solid understanding of identity management:
    Active Directory, Group Policy, authentication and authorization fundamentals
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across OS, virtualization, storage, and networking touchpoints
  • Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments with consistent operational and security practices
Cloud & Automation
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid integrations
  • Working knowledge of scripting/automation using Power Shell, Bash, or similar tools
Experience
  • 10+ years of Systems Administration / Infrastructure Administration experience
Nice To Have (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience supporting game development studios and/or live gaming platforms (service reliability, release readiness)
  • Knowledge of Dev Ops practices and CI/CD-enabled environments (collaboration with pipelines, automation mindsets)
  • Certifications such as Microsoft, VMware, AWS, or equivalent
  • Experience working in Agile-based environments and cross-functional delivery rhythms
