Sr. Data Architect – Healthcare, San Diego, CA. Salary: $pay$$.
Responsibilities- Implement an enterprise HDFS environment that provides long-term support to Sharp Health Care advanced analytics.
- Develop and maintain a sustainable process for development and delivery of assignments, and contribute ideas to expand tools and technology.
- Apply coding and testing standards to determine project requirements and timelines based on functional specifications, client requirements, and system design.
- Assist in adopting agile workflow for development projects and support existing tools for the enterprise data warehouse and analytics program.
- Determine design and implementation strategy for large‑scale databases using accepted frameworks and tools.
- Develop a strategic plan for the overall architecture of the Data Analytics platform, including the data warehouse and other analytic databases.
- Provide oversight to architects and developers, ensuring optimal system performance and throughput.
- Design and communicate physical data models to database administration and other technical resources.
- Optimize or revise existing data models and ETLs to ensure optimal performance.
- Approve logical and physical models created by developers or architects before submission to database administration.
- Design and implement logical, physical, and operational models for all large projects.
- Review model design for new data sources, ensuring standards are followed.
- Set the standard and approach for resolving data quality issues and ensure follow‑through to correction.
- Analyze, design, program, document, and maintain computer application software and database files using standard programming conventions.
- Interpret and translate functional specifications into efficient code.
- Assist technical management in setting code standards to ensure efficient processing.
- Develop a process moving toward a more agile approach to code delivery within the Decision Support team.
- Provide third‑tier support in solving technical problems and developing coding solutions.
- Perform code reviews using sound knowledge of IS principles and department specifications.
- Document file structures, programming constructs, installation and operating instructions, and other technical features of applications.
- Use standardized naming conventions and exhibit structured programming methodology in code.
- Ensure that production delays do not occur due to negligence or failure to follow proper procedures.
- Demonstrate consistent leadership with team and clients to promote customer satisfaction and team development.
- Develop a mentoring program for technical team members to grow technical skills and overall architectural knowledge.
- Recommend and develop training programs to improve the effectiveness of the analytic technical team.
- Supervise and perform annual reviews of data architects within the team.
- Communicate expectations and priorities, delivering effective communication that sets appropriate internal and external expectations.
- Provide leadership in implementing technical products and participate in all software and OS upgrades.
- Manage client interactions to ensure understanding, agreement, and attainment of project goals.
- Proactively communicate completion dates and delays.
- Train new IS staff in system functions to maximize user effectiveness.
- Engage with other departments to understand system changes that may affect analytic applications.
- Report activity monthly or as established by management, requiring minimal supervision.
- Perform independent departmental tasks not specific to data architecture.
- Set standards for technical management of data quality improvement processes and offer suggestions to improve customer satisfaction, service levels, and productivity.
- Apply project management techniques consistently and effectively.
- Create and maintain a matrix of all technology initiatives to ensure projects are completed on time and within resource constraints.
- Communicate promptly to requestors and management when project schedules may not be met.
- Provide executable alternative solutions to overcome resource constraints.
- Develop workable training plans based on department and client needs.
- Determine and plan appropriate project task support and communication.
- Develop resource allocation and scheduling requirements using company and IS guiding principles.
- Work with project managers and analysts to determine accurate scope, definition, and charter.
- Use IS standards to determine technical specifications.
- Identify and mitigate risk comprehensively.
- Ensure adequate communication of project‑related issues.
- Establish and complete project documentation requirements in a timely manner.
