Principal Business Systems Analyst (Workday)

Carlsbad, CA or New York City, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

We are seeking a Principal Business Systems Analyst to join the Workday Global Business Systems team. In this role, you will partner with HR, Finance, and IT stakeholders to optimize Workday capabilities, drive process improvements, support organizational growth, and deliver scalable technology solutions.

• Partner with business leaders to gather, analyze, and document requirements.
• Translate complex business needs into Workday solutions.
• Design, configure, test, maintain, and support Workday applications and integrations.
• Drive process improvement, automation, and standardization initiatives.
• Manage projects and ensure timely delivery of quality solutions.
• Support system security, audits, and operational stability.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics to support business decisions.
• Coach and mentor team members and establish best practices.
• Collaborate with global stakeholders to adopt new functionality and enhancements.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• 6+ years of hands‑on Workday experience
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Workday Organizational Structure
  • Business Process Configuration
  • Security Policies
  • Calculated Fields
  • Advanced Reporting (Simple, Matrix, Composite)
  • Workday Studio
  • Workday Web Services
  • Core Connectors
  • Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB)
  • BIRT Reporting
  • XML, XPath, and XSLT
• Experience with:
  • Workday administration and tenant configuration
  • Data loads and payroll configurations
  • Requirements gathering and process mapping
  • Testing, upgrades, and end‑user training
  • Dashboards, scorecards, and reporting
  • Incident management and defect resolution

• Strong functional and technical Workday expertise
• Experience partnering with HR, Finance, and IT teams
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to lead initiatives and mentor others
• Passion for process improvement and automation
